Cape Town Weather
Summer (November to March)
Expect long, warm days with sunset at around 8.30pm and daytime temperatures in the mid-twenties centigrade. Predictable sea breezes keep the climate mild and never too hot. It hardly ever rains during this period and the sun shines as only in Africa!
Autumn (April to early June)
The sun sets between 7.30 and 6.30pm as the days shorten. However, this is perhaps the best time of year to visit as daytime temperatures are still in the twenties centigrade and the days are calm and clear without wind or heavy rains. You'll be able to enjoy safe sunbathing, followed by champagne on the beach at sunset. The weather can be variable with the occasional cold front bringing rain, but these are generally short-lived with glorious sunny spells in between.
Winter (late June to late August)
This is the season of storms in the Cape, but these usually affect only a few days out of each fortnight, offering wonderful weather in between. Expect daytime temperatures of around 12 to 18 degrees centigrade - and if the sun comes out, it could just be a perfect day.
Spring (September and October)
A profusion of wild flowers heralds the start of a new season. Morning dew is the last reminder of winter past, and Westerly storms give way to the Easterly summer trade winds. Yachts, dinghies and windsurfers come out of hibernation, as do early summer tans.
